Description
EMGARD® Synthetic Multipurpose Worm Gear Lubricants provide
excellent anti-wear and load carrying capability, as well as strong
rust inhibition, yellow metal protection and demulsibility performance.
EMGARD® Synthetic Worm Gear Lubricants (WGL) are
blended with 100% synthetic basestocks, provide high temperature
stability, cleanliness, excellent low temperature fluidity, and better
overall lubricity.EMGARD® Synthetic Worm Gear Lubricants are
kinder to the environment because they minimize lubricant use
and disposal, and reduce power consumption.These characteristics
help reduce costs by extending service intervals, eliminating seasonal
oil changes,minimizing lubricant use and disposal, and
reducing power consumption.

When converting to EMGARD® WGL Synthetic Lubricants,OEM recommendations
should be used when choosing the appropriate
viscosity grade.Maximum performance is provided when the
equipment is clean and in good condition.Contamination from
previous lubricants or their residues should be minimized, since this
will tend to compromise the performance enhancements of the
synthetic. In applications where new equipment is involved,maximum
life will be provided after the gear set is fully broken in.The
synthetic basestocks used in the multipurpose gear lubricants have
been blended to provide good compatibility with conventional
seal materials such as Buna N, fluorocarbon and polyacrylate, provided
that the seals are used within their temperature capability.
Applications
EMGARD® Synthetic Worm Gear Lubricants are suitable for use in:
■ Spur, helical, herringbone, and bevel gearing, and all types of
worm gearing
■ Ball roller and other types of anti-friction bearings
■ Servicing both steel-on-steel, and bronze-on-steel metallurgies
Other applications—when limitations are encountered with conventional
lubricants:
■ Short duty or maintenance cycles due to borderline stability or
cleanliness
■ Seasonal changeout due to poor viscometrics or pour point
■ High operating temperatures
■ Excessive power consumption, or limited output and productivity,
due to frictional losses, especially in worm gearing which
tends to have lower design efficiency
■ Excessive inventory or disposal requirements, due to additional
change-outs and restricted functionality
■ Multipurpose Worm Gear Lubricants offer lubricant consolidation
capability. When an application includes several gear box types,
including worm gears, these lubricants may satisfy each of the
lubricant requirements.
They are not recommended for heavily loaded hypoid gearing
where automotive type gear lubricants offer better protection.
