The laser has a maximum resolution of 1200 DPI... or about 0.02mm, the beam width is about 0.1 mm wide... but in reality it fluctuates about .2mm
The set of gears, the plastic base, and the rings to hold the gears took about 20 minutes. Cutting the 12.7mm (1/2 inch) rod into 4 pieces took another 2 minutes.
